For this discussion, you are the administrator of a large hospital. The theory also does not consider a leader acting in different situations.

read the post below and in 200 words post a response to:
Directly build on a colleague’s post by offering a novel insight based upon your academic reading and real-world example(s).
Post :
The concept of leaders are born not made, started early on when people try to systematically theorise what makes a good leader. Francis Galton (1869) book “Hereditary Genius: An Inquiry into Its Laws and Consequences” suggested leadership qualities are inherent and are given at birth. Pre-1950s studies mostly support this notion and trait theory was developed.
Trait approach is when leadership attributes are inherent and these attributes are important to be an effective leader (Northouse, 2021). These attributes could be intelligence, communication or confidence. However, some of these traits are external social constructs and dependent on how a follower views the leader.
Trait theory has its limitations because, there are no standardised traits and attributes are highly subjective to the followers’ view. The theory also does not consider a leader acting in different situations. Later in the 1950s, other concepts began to theorise such as, skills and competencies could be learnt.
Walt Disney a famous motion picture producer, creator of Micky Mouse and founder of Disneyland. His company then became one of world’s largest entertainment companies. His father was a construction worker and mother was a school teacher. Neither his parents were well known leaders. “Walt later said that many of the habits and compulsions of his adult life stemmed from the disciplines and discomforts of helping his father with the paper route” (Bosley Crowther). This suggests that Walt’s early life play a pivotal role in his career and changed his habits. If these habits helped him become a successful leader, it would suggest leadership skills can be learnt through technical or discipline and it is not hereditary.

In considering team effectiveness we explore the importance of team-work for organisational life and the determinants of successful team performance. In particular, we review the concept of group reflexivity where teams overtly seek to review and improve their own performance. We analyse the challenges that prevent effective team-working including barriers that can lead to bias in decision-making, different types of team conflict and different approaches to conflict resolution. There are a number of leadership theories that focus on leadership of teams. We critically evaluate two team-leadership theories, Distributed Leadership and Leader-Member Exchange theory.

Please share any advice or experience from your own practice or from other useful reading or resources.
Note: Include topics Despite the importance of effective communication in all aspects of organisational life, organisations are typically rife with examples of miscommunication, misunderstanding and hurdles that make communication complex and challenging. This week we focus on the skills and challenges of effective communication and consider this in two parts. In part one, we study communication as a form of persuasion involving both verbal language and non-verbal behaviours. We explore a range of theories of how to use verbal persuasion to influence senior executives and key organisational decision makers. We also consider how non-verbal behaviours such as hand-gestures might be used in presentations to persuade investors to fund projects.
In part two, we consider the importance of listening and review practical tools and techniques that you can try out very quickly and easily to develop your listening skills. We also consider how to both give and receive feedback, a vital skill for developing as a manager and leader. This week’s topics are based on academic research but it is also a very practical session. Many of the ideas you will meet this week have the potential to help your development as a manager and a leader,
